Dusit Thani Manila

The newly renovated Deluxe Club Room of Dusit Thani Manila.

Opened  in 1976 as Hotel Nikko Manila, then acquired by Dusit Thani Group in 1995 and is currently renovating their 538 rooms through the months of May and December 2015 just in time for the APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) Meeting on November.

The Deluxe Twin Club Room, 30 square meters which I consider small for a 5-star hotel in 2015, it's not surprising since the property was built almost 40 years ago. The renovation has certainly brighten up the room with the glass partition of the bathroom providing it a more spacious look and feel. The interior is Thai inspired with the gold painted picture frame headboard encasing a floral backdrop is a nice touch and is similar to the also newly renovated rooms at Edsa Shangri-la Hotel. The 42" inch Led TV welcomes guests by their name on the screen like most modern 5-star hotels.

The Twin Room configuration doesn't include a bathtub anymore, which is much better since I prefer and appreciate the spacious walk-in shower more. Only the Deluxe King rooms feature a bathtub. The privacy curtain on the glass partition of the bathroom is manual unlike in Marriott Manila's rooms where they feature an electronic push-button solution. The air conditioner in our room was noisy even on the lowest setting and most probably it's still the same AC units used in the old rooms.
